1.
You have to base poems on your own experiences, emotions and personality. If a poem is not filled with these things the poem feels empty.
2.
You have to take emotion away from a poem and feel a certain way when you read it. The emotions help draw the reader in.
3.
Aim your poem to a certain audience. For example the nature poem would be for people who like animals or a poem on soccer would be for people who like soccer. You want your reader to connect with the poem.
5.
Don’t make the poem to long or to specific in terms of the audience. It has to be entertaining or catchy in order for the reader to care about what you are trying to say and put out.
