Homm 3 is a very enjoyable game to play with friends and family. I mean who doesn’t like sending armies and planing attacks on your friends or just enjoying the map and exploring. In this blog I will tell you what I found most entertaining about the game and what are some of the things I disliked. I will also give you a basic guide to the game.

I found this game truly amazing when I first played it, but I had a hard time learning how to play the game due to the very short beginners guide. I wasn’t able to figure out all of the tricks and abilities of my faction, though the guide was helpful it just wasn’t helpful enough. After some practice I was able to gain some decent knowledge and soon learnt that Homm was a very exciting game. I also discovered that Heroes Of Might And Magic has multiple factions so you can spice up your strategies and techniques.

In Homm 3 there are 8 main factions ( Castle, Rampart, Tower, Inferno, Necropolis, Dungeon, Stronghold and Fortress ) and 2 more factions ( Conflux and Cove ) that you can acquire with the Armageddon Blade expansion or my personal favorite, The Horn Of The Abyss unofficial expansion. For beginners I recommend these 3 factions: Castle, Rampart and Dungeon. Though this is my recommendation you don’t necessarily need to start off with these factions. Each faction has both lots of advantages and some disadvantages.

Castle

The Castle is one of the most basic factions you can play as, the units are very self explanatory and easy to use. There are 7 basic units ( Pikemen, Archers, Griffins, Swordsmen, Monks, Cavaliers and Angels ) and 7 upgraded versions of the basic units ( Halberdiers, Marksmen, Royal Griffins, Crusaders, Zealots, Champions and Archangels ). Magic goes up to level four with some spells banned ( Bloodlust, Curse, Death Ripple, Animate Dead and Armageddon ). This faction is great for beginners.

Rampart

The Rampart is a nature based faction and has some powerful units while also being pretty simple. The seven basic units include: Centaurs, Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Pegasi, Unicorns and Green Dragons. When these units are upgraded the become: Centaur Captains, Battle Dwarfs, Grand Elves, Silver Pegasi, War Unicorns and Gold Dragons. Magic goes up to level 5 which is pretty good. The spells Bloodlust, Curse, Death Ripple, Animate Dead, Armageddon, Summon Air Elemental, Summon Fire Elemental and Sacrifice are all banned.

Tower

This is a magic based faction for more advanced players. Units include: Gremlins, Stone Gargoyles, Stone Golems, Mage, Genies, Nagas and Giants. Upgraded units are: Master Gremlins, Obsidian Gargoyles, iron Golems, Arch Mage, Master Genies, Naga Queens and Titans. Level 5 magic with very powerful spells. Expensive faction. My favorite faction.

Inferno

Hell based appearance with powerful units. Your armies will consist of Imps, Gogs, Hell Hounds, Demons, Pit Friends, Efreet and Devils. You may upgrade your armies to Familiars, Magogs, Cerberuses, Horned Demons, Pit Lords, Efreet Sultan and Arch Devils. Level 5 magic. This faction is for more advanced players.

Necropolis

An undead faction full of zombies and skeletons and has a pretty cool ability, Necromancy allows you to gain some skeletons/ skeleton warriors after each battle making it easier to build up an army. Units include: Skeletons, Walking Dead, Wights, Vampires, Liches, Black Knights and Bone Dragons. Once upgraded you will have: Skeleton Warriors, Zombies, Wraiths, Vampire Lords, Power Liches, Dread Knights and Ghost dragons. Not the strongest faction, more of an end game faction. Level 5 magic.

Dungeon

Monster Based faction that is great for beginners and also is pretty strong. Has okay magic (level 5) and units are: Troglodytes, Harpies, Beholders, Medusas, Minotaurs, Manticores, Red Dragons. When your units are upgraded you will have: Infernal Troglodytes, Harpy Hags, Evil Eyes, Medusa Queens, Minotaur Kings, Scorpicores and Black Dragons. This faction has strong units.

Stronghold

This faction is full of goblins and heavily relies on brute strength and has level 3 magic. Primitive units. My least favorite faction. Units are: Goblins, Wolf Riders, Orcs, Ogres, Rocs, Cyclopses and Behemoths. When you upgrade your armies you will have: Hobgoblins, Wolf Raiders, Orc Chieftains, Ogre Mage, Thunderbirds, Cyclops Kings and Ancient Behemoths.

Conclusion

For me, Homm 3 is the perfect game for friends and family to play together or to play alone. This game just hits the spot and I personally loved this game and recommend this game to anybody who likes war or strategy games. This is definitely one of my favorite games without doubt.
