For those of you who don’t know who Nancy Drew is, she is an amateur detective who lives in the American neighbourhood, river heights. There are 24 books not including the holiday one which is in between 16 and 17 and I have read 17 books and out of all of them book 12, also known as sign in the smoke has easily been my favourite. In this book Nancy spends the summer as a counselor at a girls camp called Camp Cedarbark with her best friends Bess and George. Nancy hears about a girl who drowned at the lake which is on camp grounds and during her stay she gets pulled under water by a mysterious figure.
Then the sleeping bags go missing, a dangerous fire is started, Nancy’s cabin gets flooded and two children go missing! While the other counselors think all this has something to do with the ‘camp ghost’ Nancy thinks there is a more logical explanation but with all the spooky events it’s hard not to believe in ghosts.
I liked how eventful this story is and I liked a camper whose name is Harper. She is the shyest camper and loves to read. She is one of the children who goes missing and in the end she saves Nancy. I found it very entertaining and would recommend it to 10 to 12 year olds. I also liked how it is longer than most of the other Nancy Drew books so the experience was longer and more enjoyable. It is one of my favourite books I have ever read.
