Anna of Byzantium by Tracy Barret is a beautifully written historical fiction. Many of the main characters in the book are real people, including Anna, Maria, John, Irene, Alexius and Anna Dalassena. Many major events mentioned in the book also took place in real life. Anna herself was actually one of the first major female historians and is known for her book The Alexiad.<\/em>The novel is filled with emotion and loads of plot twists. It is engaging and descriptive, making it feel as if you are in Constantinople. <\/p>\n\n\n\n You feel for the characters and feel as if you knew the characters your whole life. Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t stop. No book has ever affected me the way this one did. This book is not appropriate for younger children as is talks about suicide and assassination.
